Bring on the music

A bit of time has passed since an update and we've covered some territory - still pretty minuscule. Matt jokes that at this rate it will take us a year to get out of NSW!

Our first car ferry to the 4wd track to Pt Plommer, a stay in windy Pt Plommer National Park then breakfast in Crescent Head before a night at Sandy Beach then another at the national park in Iluka. Then we arrived in Byron Bay!

My lovely friend, Elke, put us up for three nights at her place in Suffolk Park and organised a kayak on the bay - lovely!

Now we're sitting in Tyagarah Fields getting ready for Bluesfest. Ahh the line-up, Paul Simon, Robert Plant, Manu Chau, Lumineers, Cat Empire, Wilco, Chris Isaak, Xavier Rudd, Ben Harper & on!

We also had dinner last night with a chat from Jack Johnson! Life is good!

We saw a bumper sticker we need - "My life is better than your holiday." At the moment, I'm feeling pretty lucky!

Crikey, we're in Croki

The trip has a mind of it's own. Matt woke yesterday morning with an urgent need to pack up from Treach and move on - he said we're getting too comfortable! Ha, I guess my task for a day of watching the laundry dry was a bit too much.

So we headed off to Crescent Head but made it only a half hour before we had a mini break to see my Glebe neighbour working at a surf camp in Pacific Palms (thanks Dave!) then the shops, petrol fill up, air in the tires and back on the road. I figured we now needed a sub stop so we ended up at a lovely camp at Riverside Caravan Camp in Croki - a beautiful spot!

Had our first power hook up so we watched a movie (thanks Emma & Cam for the packed up hard drive) after Matt zipped up a couple dips - beetroot and hummus.

A Treach good time

Playing catch up now but we went from the Blue Mountains to Treachery Beach near Seal Rocks to one of my favorite spots in the world. You camp at the base of the sand dune with water views from the top and a killer sunset!

We've been here since Friday when the campsite was at its hectic height. Now 4 days later and we had some peaceful nights after a mass exodus on Sunday. The camper did get a workout with crazy winds and rain - all happy on this homefront!

A couple 4wd mini trips yesterday to Violet Hill and the tallest tree in NSW. Also a few good surfs even though we realised my fins are back in Sydney - I had good paddle practice at least.

Food luxuries so far by masterchef Matt - banana bread, pizza, vegetable curry! We are loving our camp pot & foldable oven!

Also, the 4wd course we took deserves a whole story on it's own, but for the moment, here is a pic - it was amazing!! Trainer John Cantrell was so super patient with the nerves in me! I highly recommend - http://australian-4x4.com.au/dt/index.html

Jenolan Caves

Wow!! Spent the day at Jenolan Caves today - supposedly the oldest known cave formation in the world.

We did the River Walk which is the underwater rivers of the caves and saw amazing crystal formations in the shapes of waterfalls, ghosts, curtains and anything you can imagine - it's like clouds in the sky!

Our first camp site

Left Glebe with a tear in the eye but after arriving on the other side of the Blue Mountains at Lake Lyell near Lithgow, all is right in the world again. Our first camp site is right on the lake with ripples lapping on the shore. Ahhh!

What a week

My first week unemployed but far from a lady of leisure! I've packed, moved, waited, learned about steel fabrication, watched naked boys dancing, and relished in the joys of our truck coming together. As I type, we are having the last touches done to the camper as it meets the truck - JOY! But I can tell you that I'll be glad to see the last of traffic on Princes Highway and Parramatta Road.

The custom box is done in the back seat to house the fridge/freezer and the recovery equipment which is all great! Oh, did I skim over that 'naked boys dancing' comment? Ha, yes, I took a night off to see some culture at the comedy club which was definitely full of laughs as it was as the name suggests - naked boys dancing and singing! Hilarious!!

OK, more on the truck later - I think they are nearly done and we need to learn how to work our happy jacks!
